Regional Combo Classes Showcase - NYC and Hartford

Litchfield Jazz Camp launched a brand new regional teaching program for teens this past fall. “Litchfield in New York” and “Litchfield in Hartford” are capping this year’s programs with end of season showcases, both on Sunday, May 6 at 4 PM.

The New York program’s director is award-winning baritone saxophonist Claire Daly. She will show the public what her 3 combos have been up to in a showcase open to the public for free. They will play tunes like "Passion Dance", "Sweet Georgia Bright", "So What" and more. Claire invites the public to meet some of the newest generation of jazz players

In Hartford, the “Litchfield in Hartford” combos have been learning their craft all spring at Asylum Hill Congregational Church under the guidance of Hartford-based saxophonist Kris Allen and pianist Jen Allen.

Two performing groups will share the stage where Hartford designer and presenter Dan Blow regularly offers some of the region’s most talented performers on his series Music@Japanalia/Eiko. On the roster will be music of Charlie Parker, Kenny Garrett, Freddie Hubbard, Horace Silver, Dave Brubeck and others. A reception and refreshments will follow. A donation of $10 per person is requested.
