Robin Baytas began playing music at the early age. By the age of ten his concentration went to playing the drum set. Since then he has studied with Charli Persip, Neal Smith, Dion Parson, Winard Harper, Rogerio Boccato, Matt Wilson, and Steve Johns. The legendary Billy Hart has also been a mentor to Robin since a young age. Robin has shared the stage with jazz greats like Wycliffe Gordon, Christian McBride, Dave Liebman, Kenny Burrell, James Moody, Valery Ponomarev, Junior Mance, and Claudio Roditi. He was selected to be one of two drummers in the prestigious 2010 Gibson-Baldwin Grammy High School Jazz Ensembles where he played at many venues in the Los Angeles area including the Grammy Awards after-party. Robin periodically performs at New Jersey jazz clubs such as Trumpets in Montclair and Cecil's in West Orange. He has played at Dizzy's Club Coca Cola, Puppet's Jazz Bar, and numerous times with trumpeter Jimmy Owens at the Justice for Jazz Artists fund raising events, along with legends like Bob Cranshaw and the late Dr. Billy Taylor. Now at 19 years of age, he studies at the New England Conservatory of Music and is pursuing a career in music.
