Dave Douglas is a prolific trumpeter, composer and educator whose unique contributions to improvised music have garnered a Guggenheim Fellowship, an Aaron Copland award and two Grammy nominations. Douglas will be visiting Litchfield Jazz Camp for a workshop day on July 29 at Canterbury School, New Milford CT. The day concludes with a concert that is free and open to the public. Douglas has a number of working groups including a new quintet, an electric sextet, and the Sound Prints Quintet co-led by saxophonist Joe Lovano. Since 2005, he has operated his own record label, Greenleaf Music, releasing his own recordings as well as albums by other jazz artists. He served for a decade as artistic director of the Workshop in Jazz and Creative Music at The Banff Centre in Canada. This is his second year as International Jazz Artist in Residence at the Royal Academy of Music in London.
