
Lisanne Lyons’ career began right after high school as the featured vocalist for the Air Force Bands. She later received her Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctorate in Music from the University of Miami. Lyons has performed with the Woody Herman Orchestra, Maynard Ferguson Big Bop Nouveau, Arturo Sandoval, Larry Elgart, with the D.C.- based Uptown Vocal Jazz Quartet and at venues here and abroad, including Ottawa Jazz Festival, and the Detroit, Clearwater, and La Nuit du Jazz, (France) Festivals. She has performed with many of the world’s top jazz artists including Maria Schneider, Bobby McFerrin, Four Freshmen, Mose Allison, Jon Hendricks, Eliane Elias, Bucky Pizzarelli, Gary Burton, and many others. Other notable engagements are performances in the national touring company of the Tony-award-winning City of Angels and with Joel Grey in an NBC-televised Orange Bowl half-time show.
Lisanne has recorded two solo CD’s, Right as the Rain and Smile, with the John Toomey trio. She will also release two new CDs this spring: one with the jazz vocal quartet Mad Romance and the other, a new solo CD with pianist Shelly Berg. In addition to performing, she is an adjudicator, arranger, and conductor and teaches jazz and contemporary voice at the Frost School of Music. Lisanne returns to the Litchfield Jazz Camp faculty in 2011.
