Saxophone

Baritone saxophonist Lauren Sevian has been performing professionally since the age of 12, first on the piano, then on the saxophone. At the age of 16 she won the Count Basie Invitational soloing competition, which led to a feature performance with the Basie Band. Lauren came to New York in 1997 to attend the prestigious Manhattan School of Music. She is a regular member of the Mingus Big Band, JC Hopkins Biggish Band and has also performed with the Mingus Orchestra, Mario Pavone's Septet, Kendrick Oliver and the New Life Jazz Orchestra, Diva, the Artie Shaw Orchestra and others. Lauren appeared in the Hollywood movie production Mona Lisa Smile and has done numerous recording projects & jingles with Ada Rovatti & Elephunk, Blue Man Group, Greg Osby and Joan Osbourne. Lauren is also married to a Litchfield favorite - Mike DiRubbo!  Lauren has been a resident artist at the Litchfield Jazz Camp since 2007.
