
Litchfield Performing Arts (LPA), a not-for-profit dedicated to the arts and arts education, is seeking summer interns to participate in the general operations of The Litchfield Jazz Festival. The Litchfield Jazz Festival, which The Wall Street Journal said, "stands tall in substance among the larger festivals around the nation" will be celebrating its 17th year August 10-12, 2012. The Litchfield Jazz Camp, featured in TIME Magazine and on CNN, hosts 350+ students from all over the United States, Bermuda, Thailand, Japan, Mexico and England at Kent School.

SPECIAL EVENTS COORDINATOR
Be a part of an internationally recognized Festival! The Litchfield Jazz Festival is seeking a summer intern to help run the 2012 Festival in Goshen, CT August 10-12. This internship will provide real-life experience in major event coordination, handling contracts, managing personnel, leadership and much more. Interns are a major part of our team.
Interns will assist with administrative tasks as assigned, and ad sales for our Festival program book. The Special Events Coordinator will work directly with our board of directors fundraising committee and Executive Director to coordinate the Festival Opening Night fundraising gala and auction. The coordinator will be responsible for managing all auction items, writing descriptions, working with contractors and sponsors, running the online auction, and handling on-site event needs. The special events coordinator will also assist our Artist Manager with Festival artist contracts and CD sales. Candidate must be able to easily learn new computer programs.
The summer is a fast-paced high-energy time for our dedicated team. Candidates must be able to jump right in, be a self-starter, positive thinker, team player and be able to work in a creative environment. The candidate must be able to work independently, prioritize assignments, be organized, and follow through always keeping the Executive Director and other staff apprised of progress.
This is an exciting opportunity for those who wish to experience first hand the world of arts production and management. Our critically acclaimed festival has featured artists like Ray Charles, Tito Puente, Eartha Kitt, Dave Brubeck, Dr. John, Paquito D'Rivera, and introduced Diana Krall to the US festival circuit.
• Fully versed in Microsoft office (Word, Excel), and general computer use
• Good customer service
Applicants must be able to work Monday-Friday, and the weekend of the Jazz Festival. Office hours tend to be 9AM - 5PM, but some flexibility is available. Position begins mid May. Interns must be able to work at least through August 17th. Local dormitory housing available from July 2 - August 15th at Jazz Camp all meals included. Litchfield Performing Arts main office is located in Goshen, CT at 331 Sharon Turnpike. The Festival is held on Goshen Fairgrounds.
A) A cover letter describing the applicant's career goals, interest in arts presentation and/or education and reasons for applying to an internship with The Litchfield Jazz Festival.
B) A one-page resume of education and employment experience with current contact information (school address, if applicable, email address and telephone numbers).
C) At least 2, but no more then 3 recommendations or references (academic or work related)
