Litchfield Performing Arts (LPA), a not-for-profit dedicated to the arts and arts education, is seeking summer Festival interns to help run the 2014 Litchfield Jazz Festival in Goshen, CT August 8-10. Be a part of an internationally recognized Festival! These internships will provide real-life experience in major event coordination, handling contracts, managing personnel, leadership and much more. The Litchfield Jazz Festival, which The Wall Street Journal said, "stands tall in substance among the larger festivals around the nation" will be celebrating its 19th year August 8-10, 2014. The Litchfield Jazz Camp, featured in TIME Magazine and on CNN, hosts 350+ students from all over the United States, Bermuda, Thailand, Japan, Mexico and England at the Canterbury School in New Milford.
Positions are unpaid. Local room & board available free of charge (available July 1). College credit possible. Interns Needed: Mid-May through August 2014. Location: Goshen, CT
All interns will assist with administrative tasks as assigned, and Ad sales for our Festival Program book.
This is a hands-on, multi-faceted internship that is fast-paced and exciting. The Special Events/ Artist Coordinator will work directly with our Board of Directors fundraising committee and Executive Director to coordinate the Festival Opening Night fundraising gala. The Coordinator will work directly with Festival Artists and will be their main contact person before and during the event, manage all artist contracts, contract payments, book hotel rooms/transportation when applicable, arrange and manage artist catering before and during the event and oversee CD sales during the Festival. The Special Events/Artist Coordinator will also recruit and manage college fair participants for the Litchfield Jazz Camp, and act as college fair night MC. He/she will also help with Festival Program Book Ad sales. Candidate must be able to easily learn new computer programs.
This is a rewarding opportunity for an organized, people-person. The Volunteer Coordinator is responsible for the full management (recruiting, scheduling, training, and overseeing on-site) the 100+ volunteers that make the Festival a-go. Candidate must be customer-service oriented and diplomatic. He/she will also garner food and beverage donations from local businesses to support our volunteers while working during the Festival. This intern will take the lead in generating Ad sales for the Festival Program Book, coordinate production of the book with PR & Marketing Director and printer, manage Ad accounts/invoices and Program Book Ad reconciliation sheet.
The Team Assistant will work in conjunction with Festival Technical Director on general Festival operations and will assist other core team members in day to day procedures.
Applicants must be able to work Monday-Friday, and the weekend of the Jazz Festival. Office hours tend to be 9AM - 5PM, but some flexibility is available. Position begins mid-May. Interns must be able to work through August 15. Local dormitory housing at our Litchfield Jazz Camp and all meals are available free of charge if needed (starting on July 1). DEVELOPMENT RESEARCH ASSISTANT
The Litchfield Peforming Arts staff is seeking a detail oriented intern to assist our Development Associate. He/she will research and identify potential sources for grants, update the organization's databases and assist with grant applications.
Part-time with flexible work hours. Can be a morning or afternoon internship, 2-4 hours per day. The Litchfield Performing Arts office is open Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Not-for-Profit Organization Summer Music Camp
Litchfield Performing Arts presents The Litchfield Jazz Camp
Position is Unpaid. On-site Room & Board Provided. College Credit possible.
Beginning: July 2014
Location: New Milford, CT
This internship will provide real-life experience in administration and organization of one of the nation's leading summer music camp. Work will include, assisting with student registration, assorted office tasks, generating and formatting reports, working with Excel documents, viewing and manipulating the online student database, and assisting in the organization and set-up of all of the music equipment. Our office relies heavily and places an emphasis on the use of technology to administrate the camp as efficiently as possible. You will have hands-on experience learning advanced Excel/Word features as well as a chance to learn Filemaker Pro. Our office always maintains a very informal atmosphere.

Schedule & Compensation:
Applicants must be able to work Sunday-Friday, and some Saturdays. Office hours tend to be 8:00AM - 5PM, but some days may require additional work. The internship will begin the first week of July and will conclude by August 14th. Dormitory housing and all meals are provided. We are researching how to get interns college credit. Full admittance to the Litchfield Jazz Festival which occurs at the end of the camp is also included.
Our camp and camp office is located on the campus of the Canterbury School in New Milford Connecticut. The office is air-conditioned. The campus is also located nearby several rivers and falls. There will be opportunities to enjoy the natural surroundings of the camp for leisure as well as the astounding performances every night by our camp faculty.
