Included in student tuition is a 3-day festival pass for each student, master classes with festival stars and a performance opportunity for each student on a dedicated second stage for our students. Organized Jam Sessions will take place between Main Stage acts all weekend long. The Jam Sessions allow students who attended the camp in Sessions 1, 2, 3, and 4 to perform on the festival. Most students who attend Session 5 will be scheduled to perform with their Session 5 Combo. Session 5 students are also welcome to participate in jam sessions, but priority is given to students whose combos could not be reformed for the festival.More »

This internship will provide real-life experience in administration and organization of one of the nation's leading summer music camp. Work will include, assisting with student registration, assorted office tasks, generating and formatting reports, working with Excel documents, viewing and manipulating the online student database, and assisting in the organization and set-up of all of the music equipment. Litchfield Performing Arts, the 32-year old charity which benefits the arts and arts education, announces its First Annual Jazz Run fundraiser. This 5mile run/2mile family fun walk happens on September 29 in Goshen, Connecticut. The noted trumpeter Wallace Roney and his Ensemble visited Litchfield Jazz Camp on Friday, August 3 at Kent School. He gave a workshop and performance for more than a hundred jazz campers and the public. But the underlying purpose of his visit was a spirit-lifting campaign to support the iconic 91-year-old trumpeter Clark Terry.
Bassist Mario Pavone premieres two new works this Thursday, August 2nd with an 18-piece jazz orchestra made up of Litchfield Jazz Camp Senior Faculty, Teaching Assistants and talented students ages 15 to 72. NEA Jazz Master, saxophonist Jimmy Heath, is the 2011 Guest Artist. He's slated to spend the day at camp on Thursday, July 28th (Session 3). He'll observe and add his thoughts to classes in the morning, then give a master class for the whole camp in the afternoon. One of the most exciting and virtuosic guitarists in jazz, Pat Martino will join LJC as a special guest artist on Thursday, July 22 (Session 2). He began playing guitar when he was twelve years old and left school in tenth grade to devote himself to music. An amazing career and life, Pat Martino survived a severe brain aneurysm and miraculously returned to music. He will give a master class for the all Litchfield Jazz Camp students the Thursday of Session 2.
