Over 100 supporters gathered to enjoy an Afternoon of Jazz & Friends at a private residence. This was the third year of the Litchfield Jazz Festival's Jazz & Friends for the benefit of Litchfield Jazz Camp Scholarships.
The audience was treated to a wonderful performance by Litchfield Jazz Camp's Director of Operations and outstanding young saxophonist, Albert Rivera and his Litchfield Jazz Camp All-Star Band featuring young pros backing Campers, vocalist Rocio Gosende and trombonist, Nicole Connelly and trumpeter, Erin Connelly. Award-winning pianist, Helen Sung, who appears on the upcoming Festival on August 11, treated us to a swinging performance with bassist Tamir Schmerling and drummer Alex Kautz. John Dankosky, NPR's News Director and host of Where We Live served for a second time to auction two paintings generously donated by artist, Bob Lenz.
We raised $15,000, but have a long way to go to ensure the future of camp scholarships. With state funding becoming more and more limited, we need individuals to help support these young people. We don't teach just music, but team work, confidence and kindness helping young people become productive and cultured citizens.
Help us help them! If you'd like to make a donation visit our donation page here OR donate to our Indiegogo.com campaign (like kick-starter but for non-profits) for great thank you gifts like festival tickets, exclusive live recordings, even a private jazz concert for up to 15 friends at the home of LPA's Founder/Director. The goal is to raise $10,000 to send 10 Kids to Camp this summer -- help us reach this goal by June 3rd when the campaing closes.
