SATURDAY, APRIL 26, 6PM - Get your tickets early for an amazing evening at Chef/Owner Chris Prosperi's Metro Bis in Simsbury where Vita West Muir, LPA Founder/Director, will be honored with the "Jazz Hero" award by the Jazz Journalists Association. Proceeds will be matched up to $10,000 by the BeFoundation to support Litchfield Jazz Camp scholarships! On Saturday, April 26th The Litchfield Jazz Festival & Camp have a fabulous evening planned at Metro Bis in Simsbury’s 1840 House. The evening begins at 6 PM with hors d’oeuvres, a silent auction that includes collectibles like a signed 1970 David Yurman piece, a brief live auction with exciting vacations in Hawaii and the Bahamas, music by the top Jazz Camp Combo, and wines and tastings by festival sponsor Master Brands.

Aptly timed during “JazzApril,” jazz appreciation month in the United States, Vita Muir, the founder of Litchfield Jazz Festival and Camp will be presented the Jazz Journalists Association “Jazz Hero” Award for introducing

“a world-class annual festival of jazz and educational programs to Litchfield County, and prior to that (since 1981) encouraging local cultural engagement as artistic director of Litchfield Performing Arts. (Her) efforts have resulted in economic gains as well as new entertainment and artistic options for residents and visitors in a region rich with possibilities, which are now much more able to be realized.”

A dinner of grilled shrimp and steak and vegetarian and vegan choices will be followed by Chris’ famous Chocolate Ganache & Key Lime Tart (you don’t have to choose—you get it all!).

Metro Bis is ranked in the top five restaurants in the state by Zagat. A finalist in the national Chef of the Year Awards, Chris Prosperi is a columnist for the Hartford Courant, Tribune wire service, and co-host with Faith Middleton on NPR’s The Food Schmooze.
