Jazz & Friends - April 24th
Category: Festival Landing Page
Posted by: tegan
Tickets are still available for An Afternoon of Jazz & Friends, Sunday April 24. This wonderful party and concert benefits Litchfield Jazz Camp’s need-based scholarships. Music is provided by Litchfield Jazz Camp instructors, top students, and two Monk Competition finalists, vocalist Veronica Swift and bassist Daryl Johns. Daryl will appear on this summer’s Litchfield Jazz Fest with pianist Orrin Evans and drummer Steve Johns – yes, his dad. (Steve was a member of the Trio of the late, great Dr. Billy Taylor.) Bet he’ll sit in if we ask him nicely! Veronica will appear at the 2017 Festival. The party is at a breathtaking home in South Kent, CT. Call 860-361-6285 for more information, or Click Here! More»

International Jazz Day - April 30!
Category: Festival Landing Page
Posted by: tegan
The National Museum of American History designated April as Jazz Appreciation Month. They chose April because so many jazz greats were born this month. Among them are Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, Gerry Mulligan, and Tito Puente. Tito closed the 1998 Litchfield Jazz Festival with his Latin Jazz Ensemble in a performance we will never forget. He had the flu and still gave 150% to all his fans here! Now April 30 has been designated International Jazz Day, thanks to the United Nations and the Thelonious Monk Institute. More»

Congress has permanently extended a popular tax-advantaged giving opportunity. The new law allows individuals who are age 70½ or older to make gifts of up to $100,000 directly from their IRA account to one or more qualified charities, WITHOUT PAYING FEDERAL INCOME TAX on the withdrawal. The extension was made retroactive to January 1, 2015. More»

Get this! Did you know 8K people visit our site each month? If half of these clicked the donate button and gave just $5, we would earn $20K a month or $240K a year. With this money we could continue to support all the kids who want to attend Jazz Camp but can’t afford it AND pay for the entire Litchfield Jazz Festival line-up! Please help keep these programs alive.
