Friday's opening night will include a special tribute to Connecticut jazz legend Thomas Chapin, who died of leukemia in 1941. Litchfield Jazz Festival announces a tribute to Thomas Chapin who performed many times in the early years of the festival. Two viewings of a 50 minute preview of the film Night Bird Song, The Thomas Chapin Story and the Litchifeld Jazz Festival Orchestra's tribute performing all taking place this week. First viewing is at Litchfield Jazz Camp at Canterbury School, New Milford at 3 pm, Tuesday, August 4 (free and open to the public) and the second on Saturday, August 8 at the Litchfield Jazz Festival. On Friday, August 7, the Litchfield Jazz Orchestra (LJO) will open the 20th Anniversary of the Jazz Fest at 7:45 pm with a tribute to Chapin. More»
