Matt Dwonszyk Sextet

Hartford-born bassist Matt Dwonszyk has gone from being a top-call bassist in CT to becoming an artist with an international profile. In just the past six years, he has appeared at festivals and clubs in Russia, Canada, Switzerland, England, France and Argentina. He has performed with his Dwonztet and in the bands of Igor Butman, Jonathan Barber, Joe Farnsworth and many others.
Dwonszyk toured with Jonathan Barber and Vision Ahead across the West Coast in 2024 and has appeared at festivals including the Clifford Brown and JVC in NYC, the Ottawa, Saskatoon, and Edmonton Festivals in Canada, the Baikal Jazz Festival in Siberia, the Litchfield, Hartford and New Haven Festivals in CT, and the DC Jazz Festival at which he won the DC JazzPrix Competition in 2022. He has also appeared at Kennedy Center and in iconic clubs like Ronnie Scott’s in London, and Smalls, Minton’s, Smoke, Zinc Bar, Birdland, Dizzy’s, and the Jazz Standard in New York City.
Matt has performed with many outstanding artists, a small sample of which includes Jimmy Green, Willie Jones III, Dave Kikoski, Javon Jackson, Craig Handy, Steve Davis, Winard Harper, Carl Allen, and Wallace Roney. He is also a busy educator, teaching at Manchester Community College, Central Connecticut State University, Hartt School of Music and at Litchfield Jazz Camp.
Matt Dwonszyk is making his Litchfield Jazz Festival debut as a leader, with Kris Allen on alto sax, Andrew Renfroe, guitar, Taber Gable, piano, Jonathan Barber, drums and Shenel Johns, featured roster artist at Jazz at Lincoln Center, on vocals.
