About the Artists
Alexis Cole
Alexis Cole has shared the stage with jazz greats including Fred Hersch, Bucky Pizzarelli, Don Braden, and Matt Wilson. Though based in New York City, her career has taken her around the world as both a performer and educator. She has taught at an affiliate of Berklee College of Music in Ecuador and served on the jazz voice faculties of SUNY Purchase, William Paterson University, and Western Connecticut State University.
From 2009 to 2015, Cole served in the U.S. Army as the vocalist with the West Point Band’s big band, The Jazz Knights. Her 2021 release, Sky Blossom: Songs From My Tour of Duty (Zoho), features arrangements written for her by Jazz Knights music director Scott Arcangel.
David Finck
Bassist David Finck is one of today’s most versatile and in-demand musicians, with an impressive career as a performer, composer, arranger, and producer. His debut recording as a leader, Future Day, was widely praised by critics.
Finck’s extensive resume includes collaborations with legendary artists across genres, from Herbie Hancock, Dizzy Gillespie, and Paquito D’Rivera to George Michael, Rod Stewart, Gladys Knight, Dionne Warwick, Linda Ronstadt, and Michel Legrand. He has also performed with icons like Rosemary Clooney, Pete Seeger, Peter, Paul & Mary, James Moody, and Sir André Previn, who once said: “There is no one who is as good a jazz bass player and collaborator.”
