Grammy winner, Swiss-born harmonica player and composer, Gregoire Maret moved to New York City at 18 years old to study at the New School University.
Over the past decade, he has emerged as a unique and compelling new voice in jazz.
The extensive list of heavy- hitters who have enlisted Gregoire for their own projects include Herbie Hancock, Pat Metheny, Cassandra Wilson, and Marcus Miller.
His guest appearances on recording sessions and concert stages expand that list even
further. These include Prince, Sting, Elton John, Jimmy Scott, Dianne Reeves, Toots Thielemans, Raul Midón, Richard Bona, Terri Lyne Carrington, Tito Puente, Kurt Elling, Mike Stern, Jeff “Tain” Watts and Charlie Hunter.
It was on a gig with Marcus Miller that Litchfield Festival founder and artistic director, Vita Muir, first heard Maret and invited him to appear on the Litchfield Fest in 2012. This time, for his third appearance here, he brings us a trio with Romain Collin on piano and Matthew Stevens on guitar.
Grammy-nominated for a recording with Maret and Bill Frisell, Romain has toured with Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter and shared the stage with Marcus Miller, Jimmy Heath and Terence Blanchard.
Grammy-nominated guitarist and composer Stevens has been featured on 70 records with the likes of Terri Lyne Carrington, Esperanza Spalding, Christian Scott, and Dave Douglas.
