The Four Freshmen

“Now in their 62nd year of performance, The Four Freshmen continue to bring their unique brand of vocal harmony to audiences worldwide”

The Four Freshmen are one of the top vocal groups of the 1950s and today. The sound that began in 1948 at Butler University in Indianapolis by founding member brothers Don & Ross Barbour, their cousin, Bob Flanigan  and Hal Kratsch continues today with Brian Eichenberger, Curtis Calderon, Vince Johnson and Bob Ferreira.  This incarnation of the group has been together since 2001.  As their role models did, the young Freshmen were named among the best vocal groups by DownBeat Magazine and they rank among readers polls favorites in both DownBeat Magazine & JazzTimes.

Whether performing with a symphony orchestra, in front of a big band, or playing self-contained, their unmistakable sound continues to thrill audiences all over the world.  In more than 100 concerts a year you can hear the freshmen perform the blockbuster hits of the Four Freshmen, including It’s a Blue World, Mood Indigo, Day By Day, Graduation Day and many more Grammy winning hits.

This is a first appearance for The Four Freshmen at Litchfield and we are proud and excited to host them at Goshen Fairgrounds to open the 17th annual Litchfield Jazz Festival, on August 10.  The evening is a special fundraiser to benefit Litchfield Jazz Camp.  The Four Freshmen consist of Brian Eichenberger on drums, Curtis Calderon on trumpet, Vince Johnson  on bass and Bob Ferreira on drums.
