Passages

My daughter Lindsey Turner and I attended two funerals in the past two weeks. On the last day of April we attended a very musical service for George Griebel in Sharon. George was a mechanical engineer in his working life and a sports car buff who was a favorite usher at Litchfield Jazz Festival from the earliest days.  These things were at the center of his life.   And then he met Catherine Bauer.  New to our community eight years ago, Catherine too volunteered, eager to meet new friends.  Last year these two “friends” became husband and wife.  George died at 85, quickly and without pain, for which we are all grateful.  Earlier in the month, Bud Ebbs, a long-time Litchfield resident and husband of 40 years to a former Litchfield Performing Arts board President and volunteer, Ellen Ebbs, passed away after a 10-year illness at age 89. He made his mark in the regional banking community and was an all around truly lovely guy.

Our thoughts are with these two remarkable women in their profound losses.
